The Kingdom, Elijah, and Restoration
Jesus, the SERVANT of YAHWEH, is God’s ELECT.
Behold my SERVANT, whom I uphold; mine ELECT, in whom my soul delighteth; I have put MY SPRIT upon him: he shall bring forth judgment to the Gentiles.
The REMNANT within ISRAEL were the ELECT who would be RESTORED. In other words it was never to ALL OF FLESHLY ISRAEL.
But what saith the answer of God unto him? I have reserved to myself SEVEN THOUSAND men, who have not bowed the knee to the image of Baal.
Even so then at this present time also there is a REMNANT according to the ELECTION of grace.
And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then it is no more grace: otherwise work is no more work.
Just as there were 7000 in Israel during the time of Elijah, there was a REMNANT within Israel who WERE SAVED.
Elijah would come and RESTORE all things.
And they asked him, saying, Why say the scribes that Elias must first come?
And he answered and told them, Elias verily cometh first, and restoreth all things; and how it is written of the Son of man, that he must suffer many things, and be set at nought.
But I say unto you, That Elias is indeed come, and they have done unto him whatsoever they listed, as it is written of him.
Elijah did come through the ministry of JOHN the IMMERSER. Some are confused by John’s statement about Elias.
John 1:21 And they asked him, What then? Art thou Elias? And he saith, I am not. Art thou that prophet? And he answered, No.
How do you reconcile Christ’s statement to John’s. John was not Elijah, but he came in the spirit of Elijah, and was the Elijah to come.
So, we see that John the Baptist was in the spirit of Elijah, but not actually Elijah reincarnated.
Elijah wore, most probably, a camel’s hair girdle. “And they answered him, “He was a hairy man with a leather girdle bound about his loins.” And he said, “It is Elijah the Tishbite,” (2 Kings 1:8). According to the Treasury of Scripture Knowledge, in reference to 2 Kings 1:8, Elijah . . .
“he wore a rough garment, either made of camels’ hair, as that of John Baptist, or of a skin, dressed with the hair on.
Concerning John the Baptist, it says in Matthew 3:4, “Now John himself had a garment of camel’s hair, and a leather belt about his waist; and his food was locusts and wild honey.”
John was the FIRST to ANNOUNCE the ARRIVAL of the KINGDOM, and many went to him to be baptized in preparation for RESTORATION. Israel’s (The REMNANT) RESTORATION would be her SALVATION, and REDEMPTION.
Elijah would come before the GREAT and DREADFUL DAY of the LORD.
Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD:
John did come before the DAY of THE LORD. The DAY of the LORD was the JUDGMENT that CAME on the NATION, and those who rejected the KINGDOM. John’ appearance was a sign to Israel that the KINGDOM and JUDGMENT was at hand. The message to ISRAEL was REPENTANCE to AVOID the WRATH that was COMING. IT CAME in A.D 70 with the destruction of the city and temple.
